On May 30th, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee Tran Ngoc Cang held a meeting with leaders of departments, localities to evaluate the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months and discuss solutions in the last 6 months of 2017.
Attending at the meeting were: Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van_ Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Vice Chairmen of the provincial People’s Committee: Pham Truong Tho, Dang Ngoc Dung; leaders of departments, localities of the province.
According to the PPC report, in the first 6 months of 2017, the province’s socio-economic situation achieved some positive results.Total production value is estimated at over VND 69 trillion. Of which, industrial production value reached over VND 49.3 trillion, total retails and services reached VND 22.6 trillion.
Export turnover reached $ 218 million (up 23% over the same period), import turnover estimated at $ 239 million (up 120% over the same period). The value of agriculture, forestry and fishery is estimated at VND 6.8 trillion. Regarding new rural construction, it is expected that by the end of June, the province will have 24 communes meeting new rural standards. For investment, it is reported that so far the year 9 projects have been licensed with the total investment capital of more than VND 62.6 trillion. Total budget revenue in the province is estimated at VND7.9 trillion, down 12.6% in comparison with the same period. Revenue of Dung Quat oil refinery reached VND 5.2 trillion.
Regarding social works, cultural and artistic activities are organized throughout the province with diversified forms; health care is improved; gratitude work is enthusiastically concerned; the number of tourists to the province increased; defense and security are maintained and ensured.
However, during the period the province has also faced to as many as challenges and difficulties. Industrial production value dropped sharply due to the upcoming 3rd turnaround of Dung Quat refinery; some enterprises are unstable in production; the weather is abnormal; some livestock products have difficulty due to the decrease in purchasing price; public investment projects are delayed, the provincial competitiveness index decreased, etc.
As making direction at the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Ngoc Cang said that socio-economic achievements in the first 6 months achieved some positive results. However, many achieved results are reported to be low compared with that in the same period last year. So, he requested departments, branches and localities to concentrate on implementing the solutions proposed in the last months of the year.
Regarding agriculture, the Chairman asked the agricultural sector to direct and have solutions to promote the development of plants and animals; pay attention to the development of seedlings suitable for each region and each locality; focus on fisheries development, but must ensure the environment.
For industrial development, Mr. Cang asked the local departments and sectors to create favorable conditions to attract investment projects and continually remove difficulties of enterprises.
In addition,he urged relevant units to speed up the implementation of infrastructure investment projects in QuangNgai EZs and Industrial Parks, urban infrastructure, focusing on ground clearance, early handover of ground to large-scale projects in the province such as: Dung Quat Oil Refinery Expansion, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Integrated Steel Complex, Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway, etc.
In order to successfully achieve the resolution targets of the provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Council; The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also asked departments, branches and localities to concentrate on state budget collection, striving to reach and exceed the 2017 budget. He also asked localities to continually improve health care for the people as well as the quality of education; ensure national defense and security as well.
